Spring Cleaning

Any body else have spring cleaning fever?  It started with my closet.  I went through and got rid of lots of clothes and made Bret clean out his side too.  We took several bags of clothes to Helping Hands.  I even rearranged and organized our closet with the extra room.  It looks and feels so much more roomier.  I know what you are thinking...it is just a closet, but it feels so good to get a project done!  After that I moved on to baby stuff that we just were using any more.  Tons of clothes Hattie has grown out of and just other things like bouncy seats, swings, play mats, maternity clothes.  Some I gave to friends others were sold.  It was refreshing but sad to get rid of all the baby stuff.  I was able to reuse all of the same stuff that I had with Molly for Hattie including the clothes and to get rid of it just means we are no longer going to be in that baby stage again....so weird to think about!  Next on the list is Molly's room, then I would love to redo the kids bathroom, eventually I would love to revamp the master bedroom, and just de-clutter the house in general while my spring cleaning fever is still in action!

The Joys of Pictures with My Family

We have not done this before but this year we gave it a go with the whole take your kids pictures in the bluebonnet thing.  We have a friend that has a field full of them on their land and she had told me to bring the kids out and get some pictures.  It was mentioned one day with my sister in law and I thought let's do it.  Besides if I could get Bret to go with us maybe I can sneak in a few family pictures since anytime I mention about trying to get some family pictures photographed Bret acts like I asked him the most ridiculous thing in the world.   That is one thing that makes Bret so grouchy.  It is kind of comical.  Anyways, do you know how hard it is to get three kids or four people to look at the camera!?!  Well here ya go:

Why do my girls have the EXACT same expression on their faces!!  Those are some dominant Williams genes.

Seriously I think this was the best ones of the cousins!  HeHe I still love it.

Bret did cooperate and take a few family pictures.  These will have to do me probably for another five years.

Easter 2012

I think all of the pictures pretty much sum up our Easter weekend with the fams.

A little egg dying.

The big egg hunt with ears on of course.

Right before Molly's meltdown because supposedly Colton took her egg. Oh this girl will be in for a rude awakening when Hattie starts moving and getting her stuff.

Some cascarones

This is on Sunday with Bret's family.  The three cousins in their matching bunny shirts Abby and I made.  I am not very crafty but yes I actually made their shirts!  I was pretty impressed with myself.

Since it was raining outside the egg hunt was inside.

Hope everyone had a great Easter!

Hattie's Christening

This weekend was a very busy and fun weekend with it being Easter and Hattie's Christening.  My whole family came up and all of Bret's family came which was so nice to have everyone there.  We were a little nervous about the ceremony because it was on Saturday night, as in did not even start till 8:00 pm.  Hattie's bed time is 8:00 pm and she usually turns into a cranky mess if she is up after 8 o'clock.  Oh yes and did I mention that is was also a two hour service, hahaha okay well we were not aware it was going to be a two hour service until it ended at 10:00.  However despite all of that it went great!  Hattie fell asleep in my arms during the service.  I handed her to the bishop asleep.  She did wake up and cry when he poured water on her head but when he handed her back she went right back to sleep and stayed asleep....I mean hard asleep the whole time, and to top it off all of the nieces, nephew,  and Molly were AMAZING during the service.  It went great and the service was wonderful.  It meant so much to both of us to have all of our families there.

A few of Hattie in her gown.

Light It Up Blue

Today is Autism Awareness day!

A few facts:
  • Autism affects 1 in 88
  • boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
  •  There is no medical detection or cure for autism
If you are interested in learning more about Autism please check out the website http://www.autismspeaks.org/

Another interesting read is also Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew

Before I quit teaching to stay home I worked with children with all ranges of disabilities.  During those years I had many students with Autism.  Each and everyone of them were so different so it is so hard to explain what that was like.  Looking back there were with out a doubt many trials but there were also so many fulfilling moments with these kiddos.

I LOVE working with children with special needs.  While I enjoy every minute of being home and would not change that I do miss being around kids with special needs.  Writing this just got me thinking about all of my classes and students I have had, so I just wanted to share some pics.  This is obviously not every student I have ever had nor are the pictures just students with Autism.
