What to do?

The weather has been so cold and wet here so of course Molly is going stir crazy because she just wants to play outside. She stands at the door saying "side, side, side." And obviously she is tired of hearing "No sweetie it is to cold outside."
Molly's response to that:

Tilly sighing thinking please make it stop.
So I try my hardest to keep things fun for her inside. We have:

played in a box

made a Fort in a box (this box has been a hit for her)

played with daddy's guitar (shhhh, don't tell)

dressed up like a princess (this was a big deal to get this skirt on and her leave it on)

played in mommy and daddy's shower (this is a fav for her too)

Moooooo

This picture is really from Christmas when we were at my mamaw's. I just found it on Bret's phone and wanted to share. It amazes me how sometimes Molly has no fear. Like this picture for instance: she ran up to the fence to a cow we know nothing about and wanted to go through the fence to get to it, BUT if she sees a hair floating in her bath water she immediately wants out like it is going to bite her. Hmmm which now has me thinking that if I ever need Molly to hurry up and get out of her long baths she likes to take I know just what to do ;)

Snack Time

Forget the snack bowl or putting it on a napkin because then it just becomes Tilly's snack. Molly prefers her snack in her play tea cup. I gave it to her in her bowl and she walked over got her tea cup out of the toy chest and put them in her tea cup. Snack time is so much better when you get to eat them out of your tea cup!

It looks like something on tv has scared her but she is really just shoving snacks into her mouth.

Cooking Class

This past Thursday Bret and I went to the Viking Cooking School for a fun date night. We had a blast. I was kind of skeptical at first because I thought they would be watching and judging me but it was nothing like that. You were put into three groups of four people. You were just in teams so that you could help each other cook and prepare the meal. We started cooking around 6:00 and ate around 8:30. The chef that was in charge was there just to go around the room and make sure everything was coming out right and we were cooking on time. She was also there to answer any questions. The menu for the night was:

Mexican Shrimp Cocktail
Toasted Tortilla Soup
Jicama Salad with Tangerines and Candied Peanuts
Chicken with Green Mole
As a Bonus they had already made for us Mango Sorbet and Mexican Sangria.

By the way this is not the right way to hold a knife. I was just posing for the picture.

Night Time Routine

I wouldn't say that we have a specific routine that we always do to get Molly ready for bed but there is one thing that Molly always loves to do before bed. I pick her up and say give kisses time for bed. First we give daddy a kiss and she says "kiss", then she points to Tilly and says "kiss" so yes we TRY to give Tilly a kiss but usually she runs from us and Molly laughs, and then mommy gets a kiss while walking down the hallway to her bedroom. Every once in a while Molly likes to be silly and will point to the wall and say "kiss" and other random things. She is silly like her daddy. Once we get into her room she immediately says "bug on." And she is talking about this cute little Twilight Ladybug by Cloud B that Valerie, Chris, and Ian gave her for her 1st birthday. I have to admit at first Molly was terrified of it. She would tremble and cry when I showed it to her but we worked on it and now she LOVES it and it is a must when she goes to bed. We take it with us when we travel. She never liked a paci or blankie so this will do. Anyways, it is a ladybug that lights up and will put stars on the ceiling and walls at night. It goes off after about 20 minutes which is great because she is asleep by then. I took a picture of her ladybug but have not attempted to get one of it in action while she is asleep, so I posted one of the pictures they had of it online.

18 month report

CHEESE!!

18 Month Update:
Weight: 25.5 lbs
Height: 31.2 in.
Head: 18.3 in.

Molly did as usual at the doctor. She screams like they are hurting her when they take her weight, height, and head measurements. When the doctor comes in Molly usually starts saying "No, No, bye bye" and then the screaming starts again when the doctor does the exam, and our doctor is so sweet and nice. Now this time after all of the screaming I guess she was worn out because when they actually gave her the shot she just made one little yell then stopped the minute we opened the door. She is so much fun at this age is doing so many things. Everyday she learns something new. It is amazing what little sponges they are.

Nap Hair

Every time Molly wakes up from her nap she always has the most interesting hair, but I think this one by far has been the best. I really should take a picture and have a book of Molly's nap hair. They are all so unique. As funny as her hair is the bad part is there is no calming it down so when she wakes up like this and we have to go in public well it just stays like this. I used to care but don't any more. Yes I have tried wetting it and brushing it down, putting spray or gel in it but then it just looks greasy. The only way to tame it is to give her a bath and wash it so like I said before: we do go in public like this. It gives a little character I think :) and it definitely makes for a conversation.

I have added this neat little reactions button to all of my posts but please still feel free to leave a comment if you like :)

Let's Get Organized

I guess you could say that our New Year’s resolution is to get our house organized. It seems to bother me more than Bret, imagine that! Even though I have been complaining about our unorganized house for about 5 years now Bret has never seemed that interested and always just tells me “but it is filled with love.” Now I don’t know if in all the dust and mess piled in our corners a “get organized bug” bit Bret, but something has happened and he is all about it. This all seems great and I know what every woman is saying “wow I wish my husband would want to do that,” but you must understand something about my sweet sweet husband, once this fire gets lit under his butt there is not turning back. He turns into a mad man. It could be 10 o’clock at night or 8 o’clock in the morning but by golly we are going to get it done. So we have made our mad dash to Container Store with out a plan to spend a small fortune, so for now our laundry room, pantry, and Molly's toys are nicely organized but we are working on other rooms. When the urge strikes him you just have to go with the flow because when it is gone it is gone, and I mean if he is done in the middle of the project well to bad he is done so I tiredly go along with this and work and work to get this all done before the desire to get organized fades from him. Don’t get me wrong I am ecstatic about getting organized but we are still in the process as we speak (I took a break to come write about this undertaking) so more than likely I will still be putting things back together late tonight. Hopefully not but we will see. I do wish I had taken some before and after pictures because it is amazing how different a space can look when it is nicely organized. I guess the real matter on this subject is to see how long we stay organized. Happy Near Year!!
