Light It Up Blue

Today is Autism Awareness day!

A few facts:
  • Autism affects 1 in 88
  • boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
  •  There is no medical detection or cure for autism

Before I quit teaching to stay home I worked with children with all ranges of disabilities.  During those years I had many students with Autism.  Each and everyone of them were so different so it is so hard to explain what that was like.  Looking back there were with out a doubt many trials but there were also so many fulfilling moments with these kiddos.

I LOVE working with children with special needs.  While I enjoy every minute of being home and would not change that I do miss being around kids with special needs.  Writing this just got me thinking about all of my classes and students I have had, so I just wanted to share some pics.  This is obviously not every student I have ever had nor are the pictures just students with Autism.

Those are sweet pictures, and your girls are super-cute, too. You look EXACTLY the same as you did in high school, wow! :-)
