7 months old - Hattie Jane

Oh Hattie where to even begin.  You are always so happy unless you are tired.  You have gotten better about mommy not having to hold you but you still have your only mommy moments.  You have three separate smiles.  1.  your real smile that your whole face lights up with.  2.  your courtesy smile to people  and 3.  your panic smile, which you get this square smile on your face when you are on the verge of panicking because mommy does not have you but you feel like you need to try and smile.  You say momma, well you did say it, now you just smile at me when I try to get you to say it.  You just started saying bye bye and waving.  We moved you to a rear facing car seat because you were just to big/heavy for me to carry any more in your infant car seat.  You still love your food.

Kite Flying

I came across some kites the other day and decided to pick one up for Molly because it seemed like it would be so fun and Molly was so thrilled to get a kite.  Everyday she asked when we could go fly it.  Today when Bret got home it was pretty windy so we went over to the park to fly it in the big open field.

The kite is up!

Molly is a little more interested in the sand pit.

Okay, fine dad I will come fly it for 2 min and 15 seconds.

Dad, I am done.
I think the thought of flying a kite was more fun for Molly than actually flying it.

Now time to have fun and play.

Hattie LOVES to swing!

If you are looking for a kite go check out Bed Bath & Beyond.  They have some good ones there.  I know weird place for one right.

The Dreaded Sick Side Waiting Room

The pediatrician should know us very well by now.

Here in the past month, no lie, I have been to the pediatrician four times.  Now luckily one of those was for Hattie's six month well visit.  First Molly had pink eye, a sinus infection, and a horrible ear infection.  All at different times, hence all the visits. (yes she is in her rainboots and pajamas, I just did not care or want to battle the changing of clothes)

Now poor Hattie has pink eye.

Does anybody else feel like you might catch something just walking through the sick side waiting room?  It is so weird I used to teach children with special needs that would drool and wipe things on me and other things in the classroom and of course they were sick at times and it never bothered me.  I just knew well if my immune system is not used to them by now I guess I will get sick.  Even if I am around other kiddos or a parent and get the call that "hey just giving you the heads up my child has....fill in the blank"  I say thanks I will keep watch and just think well if my kids and I get it, it is what it is.  I can't keep them from not ever getting sick, but don't get me started on parents (none that I know personally) that bring their kiddos around knowing they are contagious.  Anyways, for some reason when I have to wait too long in the sick side waiting room I start watching all the other kids and think "I wonder what they have", "Is is really contagious" which I am sure they are thinking the same of me and my children.  Now here is the part that drives me crazy.  My sweet little Molly will be all shy around friends kids to the point she will not play with them but by golly we meet a stranger and Molly will make best friends with them.  The park, the grocery store, and even the doctors office, especially if they like to look at the fish tank where Molly always goes to.  That is her place to strike up a conversation.  For example: "Hi my name is Molly.  It starts with a M.  I am three.  What is your name?"  and then she tells them all about the fish she sees in the tank.  Sorry for the long story to bring back around to so now my child is face to face with another sick kid and I can only sit there and think "what does that other kid have!"

Hopefully here is to the last sick visit for a while!

First Hair Cut....Kind of

Molly had her first official all over hair cut a couple of weekends ago when we went to visit my family. I know what you are thinking...what first hair cut? Well let me give you a little Molly hair (or lack there of) history.

Here is Molly getting her first official hair cut.  She was a little over a year and as you notice there really is no hair except for the mullet growing in the back. For some reason Molly's hair took FOREVER to grow on the front and sides but we were constantly having to trim the mullet.

See here, I think she is right at 2 and the sides and front have never been touched...still just trimming the back.

Again here, I would always get comments like what a cute little bob hair cut.  If they only knew...once again we are still just waiting for the sides and front to catch up so when we cut the mullet it looked like a cute bob.

Now somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 her hair wanted to give Rapunzel's a run for its money and just started growing like a weed.  So here is Molly at 3 1/2 getting a real hair cut.  We did not go crazy with the hair cut since it only took her 3 1/2 years (her whole life) to get this. However next hair cut I am thinking about cutting more off.  This girl does not like for me to fix it.

6 months - Hattie Jane

Weight:  17 lbs 5 oz
Height:  26 1/2 in

To miss Hattie:
  • You have started food.  You have only tried butternut squash so far but loved it.
  • You wear size 3 diapers and are in 6-9 month clothes but I have a feeling in about a month will be moving to 9 month clothes.
  • For the last month you have not been sleeping great.  The doctor said your gums were swollen so that could be causing it.  Who knows, but I would like it if you got back on your schedule, please :)
  • You are doing the tri-pod wobbly sit but not sitting on your own just yet.
  • Some days you don't make a peep and then the next day you talk ALL day long.
  • Molly still adores you and you adore her.  She can make you laugh or smile just walking in the room.
  • You are still a mommy's girl but will give out smiles to everyone as long as I am holding you.
  • I think your eyes are going to stay hazel.  We think you have your Nani's eyes because you certainly don't have brown ones like mom and dad.
  • You have the most impeccable timing for pooping the minute we get in the car and drive off far enough from the house. You ALWAYS poop on the days I work and are on the way to the sitter.  She knows when you show up you will have to be changed and 70% of those times you have exploded out of your diaper.

Weekend With My Family

This past weekend Bret had to meet with a client that lived about 45 minutes from my parents so we took that as an opportunity to visit my family.  We got there Thursday night and left Monday morning so of course the weekend was full of fun.  This really should be two posts but I did not feel like it.

It got really cold there so my mom made us and the kids go move the fire wood around to the back door, and yes the little ones helped.

Then the cows had to be fed.  My niece and nephew love to help feed.  Molly was not a huge fan.  She said there are just too many cows.

Love this little boy.  Colton always had on a hat of some sort.

He needs a little more driving practice.  He never looks at the road :)

Hattie loved jumping!

We had a tea party and everyone had to wear a hat.

Including my brother even if he was not aware of it.

Hattie was not left out either.

So much more happened but I am just keeping it short and sweet.
Good times, good times!

Check out These Locks

Can't you just see it!  All those whispy's?  Okay so maybe it is not a full head of hair but I think I could actually put a tiny bow in there.  This is Hattie at 5 1/2 months.  She already has Molly beat when Molly was this age.

This is Molly at 1 year old.  They basically have the same amount of hair.

I will try to post a baby picture of Molly and Hattie around the same age to see how similar they look.  Sometimes I think they look like each other but then sometimes they look so different.
